Decoding Mp3
Once again i am forced to write another page because the other guy's page sucked. This is a short page by the way. Decoding is the easy part.
Decoding an mp3 allows you to write it back to a CD and make your own audio CD's. Cool huh? All you have to do is convert the .mp3's back into .wav's and then your burner software will write it back to CD. I use adaptec EZ Cd creator. It works real well in my opinion.
This other guy actually suggested using "Winamp" to decode mp3 back into .wav files. The major problem with this is that winamp isnt a decoder. It just records off the sound card. Winamp makes analog .wav files. To get full digital quality you need to use a DIGITAL decoder. L3enc comes with another program, L3dec. Its a DOS program that does the job.
At the command prompt type:
l3dec -wav infile.mp3 outfile.wav
Thats all there is to it. Now just use your burner software to make your own audio CD's. DONT USE WINAMP!
One final note: Sometimes l3dec gives the message "sync lost" at the very end of the mp3 file. Not to worry, it doesnt effect your output to CD. I've tried it myself.
Anyway, have fun.
